Having spent a goodly part of the the last week in bed feeling sorry for myself, one highlight was finally getting round to watching The Office (US version).
As such, I’ve been drawn into the weird and wonderful world of Michael, Jim, Dwight, Pam, Jan, Ryan etc. Initially a bit wary since the UK version is darkly amusing in a cringe-worthy way, the US version is a fun ride, with a lot more character development - definitely one advantage to having so many more seasons and so many many more episodes per season.
I’m only in season four right now, but I’m already happy, since I can now understand The Gervais Principle. This is one of those articles (though that doesn’t quite give the analysis its full credit) which I have started a few times having stumbled upon it in multiple ways, but never quite had the knowledge about who was who to allow it to make sense. But now… well, my eyes have been opened to the world of Sociopaths, Clueless and Losers!
